A Case of Multiple Fungous Infection of the Skin

Abstract
|
|
|
A case of multiple fungous infection of the skin in 34 year old male is reported. The skin lesions of the patient were seated on the buttock and finger and toe nails.
The lesions on the buttock were relatively well marginated, erythematous, and sclay patches with slight elevation on periphery. And all of the finger and toe nails except left index finger were brittile, grooved, thickened, and partially destructed.
Mycologic culture of the sample on the Sabouraud´s dextrose agar msdia revealed trichophyton mentagrophytes from nail lesions and epidermophyton floccosum from buttock site.
Complete healing was observed by oral administration of the Griseofulvin tablet 1.5 gm daily for 8 weeks and 1.0 gm. daily for 8 weeks, totally 140 gm in 16 weeks.
